Learning English through games

Children in Pre First went to visit the edible garden of Claudia Bonilla, a member of the school community and one of the founders of the RY Ecology Committee. She grows part of her food in her backyard and she showed students all the biodiversity she had living in her garden. It was very interesting to use magnifying lenses to see the tiny eggs that are laid by butterflies on the back of Nastertium leaves and then they were able to spot a small caterpillar that will eventually turn into a butterfly.
Afterwards, children were given floral shears and they carefully cut different edible leaves and flowers to then rinse and they ate in a salad.
Afterwards they drew what they liked the most and to finish the visit, students planted seeds (they could choose maize, tomato, peas, chili) in a container that was filled with soil and then they watered it and took it home to look after it.
